"Fellow Dads and Dads to be buy this book.
As a guy who didn't know squat about babies and kids, this book is amazing. All I know is I had a child coming and no clue. Enter a book with pictures. Hey it worked on us as kids so why not? Guys, start here and read more adult books later but this book is great place to start. I read it twice for each time we had one."

- The main attraction of this book is that it is amusing. It has some real information in it about swaddling, changing diapers, baby poop, etc. but mostly it is the entertainment value that makes people like it. I doubt my husband will be running to it when he wants some real information about our baby, since we have legit references like The Baby Book, but we have leafed through it at dinner time and had a few laughs at least. I think he appreciated it as a Christmas gift, but we will probably pass on to the next friend who becomes a first-time dad. I'll mention too that my husband is in the medical field so is probably more apt to read certain things than your average guy. For a guy who probably will never crack a book and is perhaps overwhelmed by the idea of having a baby, I think this would be a great buy.
- I bought this book for my husband when we started trying to get pregnant and he loves it. Some have complained that it is "dumbed down" or insulting or playing to the stereotypical sitcom clueless dad. However I would say those people need to lighten up and get a sense of humor. Yes, it does have comic book-like pictures and even pokes fun and makes jokes (like tips for how to deliver a baby during the zombie apocalypse). But there is a lot of good information too. My husband is a smart man (above average IQ) and he did not feel like he was being "talked down to" but rather that the information was being presented in an entertaining way. The pictures also make it very easy to find information for quick reference. Of course he could have read a typical parenting/pregnancy book and gotten the exact same information, but this book is actually fun to read! I would recommend it to any soon-to-be dad.
- Fellow Dads and Dads to be buy this book.
As a guy who didn't know squat about babies and kids, this book is amazing. All I know is I had a child coming and no clue. Enter a book with pictures. Hey it worked on us as kids so why not? Guys, start here and read more adult books later but this book is great place to start. I read it twice for each time we had one. - I bought this for my husband when I was pregnant because it seemed like a cute, tongue-in-cheek book and I thought it would be funny to get him a silly book when I had a ton of huge, serious pregnancy books. When it came, though, I was surprised to find that it contains actual useful information in an easy-to-digest format. My husband isn't a big reader, and this book presents information that is immediately obvious at a glance, with lots of handy tips and tricks. It is clever and funny, as I expected, and it's obviously not full of a ton of serious subject matter, but as a first-time dad with minimal baby experience, my husband did learn a few things reading it. He hasn't referred to it again, and I doubt he will, but I didn't think it would be useful for anything but a smile so I'm pleased.
- I bought this as a funny gift for my husband to read. He's not much of a "reader" and I wanted him to just get a taste of what he should be doing and what he should be preparing for. It ended up being a great book to read together and get a laugh but there were one or two pages in there that even I found useful. It offers short and sweet advice for daddys-to-be. Nothing in depth but I guess if you have questions or something strikes your interest, you can always go research it. The pictures make it cute and easier to maintain interest.
This is a great intro book for your dad-to-be but I don't think it should be his only source of information. ) - I love this book. Make all the ladies at my office laugh and I was afraid it will be insulting to my husband considering it mainly has pictures, but he loves it. It makes is easy and straight to the point, pictures make it super fast to understand and it's written like a manual. He loves it.
- This book is both entertaining and knowledgeable. Granted it is more on the entertaining side it is still a great resource that provides some of the basics in a fun to read method.
I was skeptical of the usefulness of this book at first but after reading it I would recommend this to any new father. Some of it is very basic but that also lends itself well to new fathers or anyone new to babies. Some of the things in there are there for laughs but also remind you about important things and get you thinking. - I gave this book to my husband for father's day. I am expecting in a few months, and he wanted more information on pregnancy and fatherhood. I know him well however, and I know many of the books he sets out to read remain unfinished. He has a short attention span, and isn't a big fan of reading. This book was perfect! It wad humerous and informational. He has read through it twice already, and often shares excerpts with with his friends or with me. In the beginning of my pregnancy, it was me sharing information with him about our baby's development, now he is telling me that our baby is the size of a baseball glove, or more recently a football. He is constantly checking the timeline of to-do's to see if we are on schedule, and there are plenty of illustrations and diagrams rather than dense text which makes the book less daunting of a read, while still full of great information. A great book for dads-to-be!
