• A must-read and a classic keepsake, perfect for Christmas, it teaches some nice lessons too. I chose it among a few other books to add to my family Christmas book collection The Magical World of Strega Nona (also from ), A child's Christmas in Wales (by Dylan Thomas, with lovely, classic illustrations), A Box of Delights (John Masefield).
• We're big fans of the Strega Nona series and this story nicely conveys the magical nature of Christmas, including bringing together community. A note about the publisher - Putnam seems to be the original publisher of the hardcover series and Voyager for the paperback. We've noticed that the artwork in the paperwork versions may not be reproduced as clearly.
• It is a fun Italian Christmas story, I like that a lot. But even though it is a picture book the amount of words and understanding is mostly for 5 and older.
• This author never disappoints. MCSN is a wonderful read aloud.
• Great Christmas story.
• I loved Strega Nona stories as a kid and now I can share them with my kids. Great stories, nice illustrations!
• I grew up with this book and it is STILL one of my favorites! Tomie de Paola is the best!!
• Can't beat Tomie dePaola's books! My kids & I were fans of Tomie & Strega Nona and I bought this for a friend of mine who is a grandmother. The story, the illustrations....it's all fabulous!
